And I’m Only 30…
is an unfiltered look at the life of Jessi Aylward as she moved from a small city in Minnesota to New York City. As a youth, she wasn’t restricted in her activities as much as her friends had been – her parents were more open in their education – but Jessi still found it difficult to create meaningful connections, even with the acceptance of pursuing intimate relationships.
She may not have learned from her mistakes the first time; she may have made the same mistake over and over again because each mistake looked like a different man, or a different job, but she didn’t lose herself.
What did happen was her being able to come to terms with the fact that she was a hot mess, but being a hot mess didn’t mean she was unworthy of the life she wanted to live.
What to expect
Mix a bit of comedy, surrealism, honesty and a bit of heart break and tears and you get this book.
This isn’t for the young or faint of heart. It’s for anyone who has an everyday struggle or cares to read about others everyday struggles. Almost like reality tv hit a book.
I’m inspired by comedian and author Chelsea Handler.
And with the great success of Baby Reindeer this year this book is a bit of a combination of a Chelsea Handler book and the show Baby Reindeer. You will laugh, cry and feel uncomfortable. Isn’t that what everyday life is? It’s real, it’s raw.
Jessi wrote this book to show and tell how real life works, show people they are not alone in their everyday struggle with mental illness, depression, anxiety, want for love, lust and even attention. It also showcases the difficulty of trying to date in NYC, not wanting anything serious, but also with everything wanting something serious. It’s a bit of chaos, fear and though it may not always seem so a touch on some of the great times to be had in life. So take it as you want, read it how you need to and know you’re never alone even. when it feels like it.
